Spaghetti Bolognese Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 1 can (14 oz / 400g) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup (240ml) beef or vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil
  • 1 pound (450g) spaghetti
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Ground Beef:

    • Heat a large skillet or pan over medium heat.
    • Add a drizzle of olive oil, then add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
  2. Add Aromatics:

    • Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, grated carrot, and chopped celery to the browned beef. Cook until the vegetables are softened.
  3. Tomato Base:

    • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and beef or vegetable broth.
    • Season with dried oregano, basil, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Simmer:

    • Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Stir occasionally.
  5. Cook Spaghetti:

    • While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  6. Finish the Sauce:

    • Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
    • If the sauce is too thick, you can add a bit more broth or water to reach your desired consistency.

    • Spoon the Bolognese sauce over the cooked spaghetti.
    • Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
  8. Enjoy:

    • Serve the Spaghetti Bolognese hot and enjoy this classic and comforting dish!
